2 nabbed for selling illegal firecrackers

MANILA, Philippines —  Two men were arrested for allegedly selling illegal firecrackers online in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Tuesday.

The suspects, whom the police Anti-Cybercrime Group identified only as Mark and Mike, were apprehended in an entrapment operation along Herrera street, ACG spokesman Lt. Wallen Mae Arancillo said.

Arancillo said the suspects were using a Facebook account with profile Nate Saint Laurent in selling prohibited firecrackers such as Tuna and Kingkong.

An ACG officer posing as a buyer negotiated with the suspects for the sale of illegal firecrackers in exchange for P6,900.

The suspects are facing charges of violating Republic Act 7183, which regulates the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in relation to RA 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
