Marcos signs 18 local laws

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has signed into law 18 measures declaring holidays, establishing marine hatcheries and hospitals and creating court branches.

Republic Act 12097 declared June 20 of every year a special working holiday in Guinayangan, Quezon province in commemoration of its founding anniversary while RA 12098 declared April 4 a special non-working holiday in Antipolo City, Rizal in commemoration of its cityhood anniversary.

A special non-working holiday to be known as “Benguet Day” was declared in the province every Nov. 23 to commemorate its foundation day, through RA 12099.

Marcos signed RA 12100 declaring July 28 of every year a special non-working holiday in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte in commemoration of its foundation day; RA 12101 declaring Nov. 7 a special working holiday in Cuenca, Batangas in commemoration of its founding anniversary; RA 12102 declaring Nov. 3 a special working holiday in Kalibo, Aklan to be known as the “Kalibo Foundation Day;” RA 12103 declaring April 16 a special non-working holiday in Marikina in commemoration of the city’s founding anniversary; RA 12104 declaring Jan. 22 a special working holiday in Guiguinto, Bulacan in celebration of the Halamanan Festival; and RA 12105 declaring Jan. 8 a special working holiday in Pavia, Iloilo to commemorate its founding anniversary.

Also enacted were laws establishing multi-species marine hatcheries in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte (RA 12106); Baybay City, Leyte (RA 12107); Argao, Cebu (RA 12110) and Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur (RA 12111); a coastal aquaculture center to support and rehabilitate the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Northern Mindanao Brackish Water Aquaculture Fish Farm in Lala, Lanao del Norte (RA 12108); and a satellite multi-species marine hatchery in Minalabac, Camarines Sur (RA 12109).

Two of the local laws are related to health care, namely RA 12112, which establishes a level II hospital in Rodriguez, Rizal to be known as the Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital; and RA 12113, which creates a level II general hospital in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija to be known as the Sen. Edgardo J. Angara General Hospital.

The President also signed RA 12114, which creates five additional branches of the Regional Trial Court in the fourth judicial region to be stationed in the towns of Rosario and San Juan in Batangas.
