COTABATO CITY — Robbers stole P3.6 million cash from a bank employee and a security guard during a bloody heist in a busy area of Compostela town, Davao de Oro on Monday morning, December 23.
The Compostela Municipal Police Station, in an initial report released an hour after the incident, stated that the 24-year-old James Pamasirsan Crucio, a security guard in a branch of the Banco de Oro in the municipality, died on the spot from gunshot wounds sustained in the attack.
Lt. Col. Jesser Vagilidad, chief of the Compostela municipal police, separately told reporters that Crucio and a teller of the BDO Compostela Branch had just collected P3.6 million worth of cash from a business establishment and were walking towards their vehicle parked nearby when two men came close and pointed pistols at them.
They opened fire at Crucio when he resisted, killing him instantly.
Vagilidad said the two robbers immediately took the bag containing P3.6 million from the bank employee Crucio was escorting and hurriedly escaped using a getaway motorcycle.
Witnesses had told police probers who responded to the incident that the two men headed toward nearby Monkayo town. Theya re now subject of an extensive search by personnel of the Monkayo municipal police and operatives from the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office.
