MANILA, Philippines — Shabu valued at P63 million was recovered by anti-narcotics agents from a Zambian woman who arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay on Tuesday night.

The suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Zambia in South Africa, was intercepted at the airport’s arrival area at 11:51 p.m., Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said.

Matta said airport authorities detained the suspect after they found 9.27 kilos of shabu in her luggage.

He commended members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group for the suspect’s arrest.

“The seizure of the contraband reduced the risk of drug-related crime in the communities,” Matta said.

Charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being readied against the suspect.

In Malabon, police seized one kilo of marijuana worth P120,000 from a 30-year-old Caloocan resident, Metro Manila police director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said.
