MANILA, Philippines — High-grade marijuana or kush worth about P1.57 million was seized by agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Clark, Pampanga on Friday.
The contraband was concealed in men’s tracksuits and cotton shorts that arrived from the US recently.
In a statement, the BOC said the illegal item was found at the Port of Clark on Oct. 18
The package was flagged after it went through the bureau’s X-ray Inspection Project machine, which showed unusual images.
The parcel was subjected to an inspection by a K-9 unit of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, which indicated the presence of illegal substance.
During physical examination of the parcel, authorities found four vacuum-sealed pouches containing the kush.
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the agency would remain vigilant against the entry of illegal drugs into the country.
