PDEA destroys P101 million shabu, marijuana in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Over P101 million worth of confiscated shabu and marijuana were destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 9 on Friday.

The PDEA-9 also destroyed P2.7 million worth of expired medicines together with the illegal drugs confiscated in a series of sting operations in Western Mindanao from January to September.

Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc, PDEA regional director, said the destruction of the confiscated illegal drugs were disposed through thermal decomposition using the boiler facility of a canning company in Barangay Ayala.

Tosoc said the destroyed drugs include more than 14,547 grams of shabu worth P98.9 million, 22,947 grams of dried marijuana worth P2.7 million and 6,062 pieces of dangerous drugs that include morphine, fentanyl and nalbuphine.
