SAN CARLOS, Pangasinan, Philippines — The FPJ Panday Bayanihan provided financial assistance to the victims of a fire that gutted the old public market, one of the province’s two major markets, on Thursday.
Brian Poe-Llamanzares, FPJ Panday Bayanihan chair, traveled to San Carlos to give P1,000 in cash assistance to each fire victim.
“I had to go home to Pangasinan and check on the market vendors. It’s FPJ’s birth month, I need to take care of our kababayans in San Carlos,” Poe-Llamanzares said.
San Carlos is the hometown of Pinoy action king and nation artist Fernando Poe Jr., who would have turned 85 last Aug. 20.
City Mayor Julier Resuello organized a town hall to hear out the concerns of the victims and distributed food packs during the event.
Poe-Llamanzares said he is happy to be working alongside Resuello, their family friend.
He also thanked private donors and friends of FPJ Panday Bayanihan who reach out to help the people of San Carlos.
More recently, Poe-Llamanzares was recognized as one of “Asia’s Modern Heroes” for his humanitarian work and disaster relief operations through FPJ Panday Bayanihan, which has helped over 20,000 families across the country and distributed more than 45,000 food packs to those in need over the past 10 years.
