MANILA, Philippines — Moderate earthquakes rocked Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.1 quake occurred at 8:52 a.m., with its epicenter located some 86 kilometers north of Lingig, Surigao del Sur.
State seismologists said the temblor was an aftershock of the magnitude 6.8 quake that jolted the province on Aug. 3.
Earlier, a magnitude 4 quake occurred at 4:11 a.m. some 63 kilometers north of Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs said both quakes were tectonic in origin and were not expected to generate aftershocks or cause damage to property.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 4.3 quake rocked Ilocos Norte yesterday afternoon, with its epicenter located 44 kilometers north of Pagudpud.
The quake, which occurred at past 2 p.m., was tectonic in origin. Instrumental Intensities 2 and 1 were recorded in Pasuquin and Laoag, respectively.
