Metro Manila crime rate down to 5 per day – NCRPO

MANILA, Philippines — With decreased focus crimes such as murder, robbery and car theft, Metro Manila stands as a “peaceful community,” the National Capital Region Police Office touted yesterday.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said crimes in the region went down to an average of 10 per day, from 15 to 20 when he first assumed office last year.

“We have basically reduced the crime volume through intensified police visibility,” Nartatez said during the “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” forum at the Philippine Information Agency auditorium in Quezon City.

The focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carjacking and motorcycle theft.

The Philippine National Police ealier reported that crimes nationwide dropped by 63.59 percent from July 2022 to April 2024.
