MANILA, Philippines — A manhunt is underway for those who shot dead a construction worker, who was linked to a P1-million warehouse theft, in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

The victim, Felix Handumon, 38, was on a motorcycle taxi when he was shot at the corner of Anonas Extension and V. Luna street in Barangay Sikatuna Village at around 11:03 p.m., police said.

A witness said an unidentified man armed with a handgun shot Handumon repeatedly.

The assailant boarded a motorcycle driven by another man. The suspects then sped off toward V. Luna street.

An ABS-CBN report quoting a relative of Handumon said the victim had just been released from Camp Karingal, the headquarters of the Quezon City Police District, for theft.

He was among the nine people rounded up by the police for alleged involvement in the theft of nearly P1 million in goods from a warehouse in Barangay Talipapa on July 6.

Handumon and two other suspects were arrested in Rosario, Cavite on July 7.

It is unclear if he posted bail or the case against him was dismissed.

The place where Handumon was shot is about 700 meters away from Camp Karingal.

Three bullet casings and a deformed bullet from a handgun of unknown caliber were recovered from the scene of the shooting.
