MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will let passengers ride its trains for free on April 9, a public holiday.
The free rides will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to state-owned LRT-2 operator Light Rail Transit Authority.
The LRTA decided to give free rides as part of the observance of Araw ng Kagitingan every April 9, as well as a way of recognizing the sacrifices made by war veterans and “heroes” in the public transport system, said its administrator Hernando Cabrera.
The free rides are in addition to the free rides of the LRT-2 and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 for war veterans and their companions from April 5 to 11.
