CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – Two suspected carjackers were killed in an alleged shootout in Bulacan on Saturday night.

One of the fatalities was identified as Marlon Bautista, 44, of Cauayan, Isabela, according to a report received by Bulacan police director Col. Relly Arnedo.

Probers said the suspects stole a truck loaded with 40 tons of corn in Aritao, Nueva Ecija.

The suspects reportedly offered the corn for sale to Joey Villacorta, who contacted the owner of the truck to verify the matter.

Villacorta called the police after learning from the truck owner that the cargo was supposed to be delivered to Batangas.

Members of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company set up a checkpoint and intercepted the truck in Barangay Sampaloc, San Rafael town.

Instead of giving up, the suspects reportedly drew their guns, triggering a firefight that resulted in their death.
