MANILA, Philippines — The Israeli government has donated shelter repair kits to victims of Typhoon Egay in Ilocos.

Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss visited one of the recipients early this month.

The donations were made in partnership with MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, and Caritas Philippines through the archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, Vigan and the diocese of Laoag.

Around 50 households received shelter repair kits, which were used to repair houses damaged due to the typhoon in July last year.

“I am happy to meet the families and to know their stories of hope and resilience,” Fluss said. ”It was heartwarming to know their personal stories. May the humble assistance of Israel help them rebuild their homes and help them get back on their feet.”

The ambassador also met with Ilocos Norte Gov. Matt Manotoc, Ilocos Sur Gov. Jerry Singson and Caoayan Mayor Germelina Goulart.

They discussed  possible areas of cooperation, especially on innovation as well as technology, water and agriculture.
