MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was killed in a sting in Davao City on Tuesday.
The suspect, alias Bentong, resisted arrest and shot it out with a law enforcer who posed as a buyer of shabu worth P14,000 in Barangay Maa, according to the Davao City police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The suspect was declared dead on arrival at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
Police said 25 grams of shabu valued at P540,000 were recovered from the fatality during a body search.
In Sarangani and Davao del Sur, marijuana plants valued at P5.75 million were uprooted and destroyed.
Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr., police Drug Enforcement Group director, said two marijuana plantations were discovered in Barangay Datal Batong in Malungon, Sarangani and Barangay Bulol Salo in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
In Cebu City, police confiscated 505 grams of shabu worth P3.43 million from an alias John in a sting in Barangay Cogon Pardo.
Meanwhile, two women identified only as Saly and Cath were arrested for attempting to smuggle 200 grams of shabu valued at P1.36 million into the Antipolo City jail on Tuesday afternoon.
The two reportedly went to the detention facility in Barangay San Jose to visit their respective partners, who are being held for illegal drugs, when the shabu was discovered wrapped in condoms and tucked in the suspects’ private parts.
