CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A businessman was wounded in a gun attack that left a one-year-old girl, who was hit by a stray bullet, dead in Tanza, Cavite on Monday.
Police said the child died while being treated at the General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital in Trece Martirez City, Cavite yesterday.
Marvin Cortez, 47, who is engaged in the sale of construction materials, is now in stable condition in a hospital.
Lt. Col. Willy Salazar, Tanza police chief, said initial investigation showed that Cortez was buying dressed chicken in Barangay Tanauan when an unidentified man arrived and shot the businessman.
The child was with her father, who was also at the store.
A manhunt for the gunman is underway.
