2 dead in Zamboanga road mishaps

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Two persons died in road accidents in this city on Friday.

Martian Mortales, 15, a pedestrian, died after she was hit by a motorcyle, which was struck by a 10-wheeler boom truck in Barangay Culianan.

Mortales‘ companion Micaella Francisco, 15, and the motorcycle riders were injured.

Police said the boom truck driver, Arman Laranjo, 52, was speeding.

The motorcycle riders, John Therese Tutanes, 22, and his sister Danica, 29, were injured.

Meanwhile, truck driver Sayvier Van Ata died while his companion was injured when their vehicle, which was loaded with fish, collided with a forward truck driven by Jose Darwin Ramillano in Barangay Curuan.

Initial investigation showed the accident occurred while Ata was overtaking a dump truck.
