MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a total of 763 violators during the three-month gun ban imposed nationwide in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), which ended on Wednesday.

A total of 508 firearms were also seized from the suspects from over 29,000 checkpoints placed around Metro Manila from Aug. 28 to Nov. 29, the NCRPO said.

Apart from these, the NCRPO also confiscated 2,840 bullets and pointed weapons from 89 separate checkpoints in the region.

NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the unit also recorded “zero violence-related incidents” during the three-month period.

This accomplishment made NCRPO the top-performing police regional office nationwide, officials said.
