Malabon cop in shooting rampage charged

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer is facing complaints for murder after he allegedly killed two persons and wounded another in a shooting rampage in Malabon on Wednesday.

Pat. Zenjo del Rosario, a member of the Malabon police drug enforcement unit, was nabbed at around 12:50 p.m., according to Metro Manila police director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

Del Rosario was charged with murder before the city prosecutor’s office.

Probers said Del Rosario broke into the house of Alexis Gutierrez and opened fire, hitting the victim and two others.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital. The other fatality, Jay Apas, died at the scene.

The third victim, Baby Tadiamon, is recuperating in a hospital in Tondo, Manila.

Police said the motive for the shooting could be drug-related. –  Mark Ernest Villeza
