MANILA, Philippines — The chopped body parts of what police believed were of a missing retired civil engineer were found in Bacoor City, Cavite yesterday, a day after the suspected killer was arrested.
The alleged remains of Napoleon Fernandez were found in four sacks by the roadside in Barangay Habay I at around 10:45 a.m.
Cavite police director Col. Christopher Olazo said Romnick Bombeo was arrested in Barangay San Nicolas I on Tuesday.
The victim’s brother sought police assistance after Fernandez went missing on July 7.
During interrogation, Bombeo admitted that he mutilated and dumped the victim’s chopped body parts by the roadside.
Police said P4.92 million in cash, three gold bracelets, three gold chains, two wristwatches, two cell phones, a gold ring and Fernandez’s identification cards were recovered from the suspect.
