LTO suspends bikers for going shirtless

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driver’s license of two men caught driving a motorcycle while shirtless earlier this year, an official said yesterday.

The LTO’s intelligence and investigation division (IID) said the two motorcyclists will be fined P3,000 and banned for one year from availing themselves of a new driver’s license.

LTO-IID officer-in-charge Renan Melitante said the two motorcyclists were caught on video in separate incidents. They admitted to the violation, he added.

The agency has put an alarm on their names and their motorcycles were tagged, he said.

The LTO found the motorcyclists violated several road regulations, including driving a motor vehicle without a license, failure to wear helmets and being an improper person to operate a vehicle.
