BI deports Taiwanese‘drug lord’

Chen Chein Ning arrives at the NAIA prior to his deportation on Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines — A Taiwanese man believed to be the leader of an illegal drug ring was deported on Wednesday, the Bureau of Immigration reported yesterday.

Chen Chein Ning, 53, said to be a drug lord in his country, was arrested by authorities in Makati prior to his deportation.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Chen left the country on a China Airlines flight to Taipei.

Tansingco said the fugitive’s arrest was made in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine National Police.

Chen has a pending arrest warrant issued by the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office in 2006 for kidnapping, production of illegal drugs and telecom fraud.

Tansingco considered Chen’s arrest as “a victory for the government as foreign fugitives have no place in our country.”

Chen was blacklisted and barred from returning to the Philippines.
