Albay high school principal gunned down

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — A principal of a public high school in Pio Duran town in Albay was killed in a gun attack at her residence in Polangui town yesterday.

Beverly Cabaltera, 53, of the Pio Duran National High School, was shot by unidentified men who barged into her home in Barangay Napo, according to Brig. Gen. Rudolph Dimas, Bicol police director.

Quoting a police report, Dimas said Cabaltera’s family members heard a commotion and a gunshot from the room of the victim at around 3 a.m.

When they opened the door, they found Cabaltera unconscious, with a gunshot wound in her neck.

Meanwhile, in South Cotabato,  teacher Rustom Baloyo  was charged with murder on Tuesday in connection with the killing of a student on Saturday.

Baloyo was the alleged mastermind in the killing of Jade Vince Eribal, who was stabbed to death by a motorcycle rider.— John Unson
