MANILA, Philippines — Three years after encountering work-related accidents, five Cagayan de Oro workers have received cash assistance from the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC).
The ECC-Northern Mindanao office said four of the workers are forklift operators and the other an engineering supervisor.
Three of the workers figured in road mishaps while the other two suffered injuries due to industrial accidents.
The workers learned that they are entitled to the cash assistance only when the ECC conducted an orientation.
With the assistance of their human resource department, the workers received cash assistance of P10,000 each.
The cash aid is an additional benefit for workers and their qualified dependents in the event of work-related illnesses or death.
The EC sickness or disability benefit application should be approved by the Social Security System or Government Service Insurance System.
