MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan police launched on Thursday a manhunt for a motorcycle-riding man who identified himself as a police officer as he harassed a 19-year-old woman on Sept. 4.

In a statement, acting Caloocan police chief Lt. Col. Ilustre Mendoza said they would investigate the incident and strengthen police presence in the city.

In an interview, Sam Pargad said she was on her way to church just before 6 a.m. on Sunday when the man introduced himself as a police officer and offered to give her a ride to her destination, saying there were many bad people around.

In a closed-circuit television video posted on Facebook, Pargad was seen walking along Alma Jose street in Barangay 177 when the man tried to grab her and force her to sit on his motorcycle.

She walked away but the man followed, until he blocked her path and tried to grab her again. He left after seeing other people walking along the street.
