Manila traffic enforcer hurt in road mishap

MANILA, Philippines — A traffic enforcer was injured after being dragged by a tricycle driven by a man who tried to escape authorities after a traffic violation in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Thursday.

The incident happened after Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau enforcer Andrei Lelis asked for the driver’s registration papers due to illegal parking in Barangay 374, according to a GMA News report.

Closed-circuit television footage showed Lelis being dragged by the tricycle driven by Jomar Flordeliza.

Flordeliza said he did not notice the enforcer’s raincoat stuck in the vehicle, police said.

The suspect was arrested after a brief chase.

Flordeliza will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries as well as resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority.

His tricycle was impounded by police.
