MANILA, Philippines — Eighteen crewmembers of a cargo vessel were rescued after their ship ran aground off Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Wednesday afternoon.
In a Viber message yesterday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) told journalists that the M/V Fast Cat M6 encountered strong winds and big waves that damaged its hull shortly after leaving the Port of Dumaguete.
Personnel of the PCG Station-Dumaguete and the Marine Environmental Protection Unit as well as tugboat Ankiesha towed the Fast Cat back to the port.
The vessel had no passengers onboard when the incident happened, the PCG said, adding no oil spill occurred in the area.
