BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – At least 798 police officers have been deployed in different areas in Caraga region to ensure peaceful and orderly elections on May 9.
“As public servants and peacekeepers, it is our duty to ensure that each voter is safe and free to exercise their right to suffrage,” Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., Caraga police director, said.
Caramat gave assurance that the conduct of the elections in the region would be free from violence.
“With our security measures in place, I believe that the Caraga police is more than prepared and ready for the election,” he said.
The Commission on Elections has yet to release the list of “areas of concern” in Caraga for this year’s elections.
