MANILA, Philippines — The eldest daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo has sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to validate and identify the social media accounts that were used to spread her fake scandalous videos.
Robredo’s camp confirmed yesterday that a lawyer representing Aika Robredo asked the NBI Cybercrime Division to look into possible criminal acts in relation to the incident.
Lawyer Pingki Bartolome, counsel for Aika, urged investigators to validate the web addresses where the fake videos were posted.
“The past few days have seen a sudden surge of uploads and posts in various blogs, porn sites and social media platforms that mislead the public and give the impression that our client has videos and photos allegedly showing her in a scandalous pose or act,” read a portion of the April 18 letter released to media yesterday.
The lawyer noted that the use of Robredo’s name to entice the public to click on these links exposes her to ridicule, abuse and harassment.
“We are filing the complaint not just for Aika, but for all those who were victimized by these online predators. We will not stop until the perpetrators of this atrocious act are put behind bars,” Bartolome said.
In an interview on April 12, Robredo said their lawyers would take legal action over the hate attack and false information being spread against Aika.
The Vice President attributed the attack against Aika to her rival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In response, Marcos’ spokesman Vic Rodriguez said Robredo’s camp is engaging in a “propaganda of lies, falsehood and politics of deception.”
