CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines — Illegal lumber with an estimated value of P600,000 was intercepted in Nueva Ecija on Sunday.
The forest product was loaded in a truck that was intercepted along the highway in Barangay Joson, Carranglan town, according to a report received by Nueva Ecija police director Col. Rhoderick Campo.
The town police launched an operation after receiving information that a vehicle loaded with illegal lumber would pass through the area.
The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over when it was flagged down by the authorities.
Jomer Deteques and his helper Jayson Maniquiz were arrested following a brief chase.
