MANILA, Philippines — Makati is ready for possible granular lockdowns, Mayor Abby Binay said yesterday.

“I would like to assure Makatizens that our city will provide food packs, COVID-19 home care kits and swab tests for them in case their street or barangay is placed under granular lockdown,” Binay said in a statement.

She also underscored that Makati is the first local government unit to implement a localized lockdown back in March.

Residents who would test positive for COVID-19 should report medical emergencies to the city epidemiology and surveillance unit to prevent their condition from getting worse.

“Since Metro Manila is under Alert Level 4, our goal is to help Makatizens recover so that they will not need to be hospitalized,” Binay said.

Testing would focus on symptomatic COVID-19 patients, as well as their close contacts, to prevent possible superspreader events.

As of Monday, Makati had recorded 36,312 confirmed cases with 32,002 recoveries, 3,293 active cases and 837 deaths.
