MANILA, Philippines — The most wanted car theft suspect in Metro Manila was arrested in Parañaque City on Monday.

Josef Marquez was collared by police officers of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in front of the Solaire Resort and Casino in Barangay Tambo at around 9 a.m.

HPG director Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum said Marquez has a pending warrant of arrest for carjacking issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 102 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Tagum said Marquez is allegedly involved in the illegal acquisition of vehicles through various car theft schemes.

Records show Marquez is also reportedly involved in credit card fraud and real estate scams in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

“We encourage the public to reach out to the HPG if they were victims of the suspect or if they have any questions related to the same crimes,“ Tagum said.

Marquez was brought to the HPG headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City for documentation.
