MANILA, Philippines — Police are looking for four persons who stole millions of pesos worth of jewelry from a store at the Shangri-La Plaza mall in Mandaluyong City, police said yesterday.
The Mandaluyong police, in a report made public yesterday, said the theft took place at around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.
An initial investigation revealed three women and a man took a set of 11-carat princess diamond earrings and a ring from the Naomi Jewelry Store on the third floor.
A sales representative told police investigators the suspects deceived her as she did not notice them taking the items from the display rack.
Police investigators asked the management of the jewelry store for copies of the purchase orders after the manager and sale representative gave conflicting prices of the missing items.
The sales representative said the stolen jewelry are worth P22 million while the manager gave a much lower value of P4.5 million.
Probers were not able to process the crime scene immediately as the store manager initially barred them from conducting an investigation, according to the police.
Police have asked for copies of the store’s surveillance camera footage for possible leads on the identities of the thieves.
