MANILA, Philippines — The delivery of rice meant to augment the supply in the National Capital Region encountered problems yesterday at quarantine checkpoints, National Food Authority (NFA) officials said yesterday.
NFA administrator Judy Carol Dansal told The STAR that the drivers of 14 trucks carrying 14,000 sacks of rice from Regions 1, 2 and 3 were supposed to converge at its Malolos, Bulacan warehouse and then proceed to deliver the rice to the NFA’s warehouses in Valenzuela City and Cavite.
However, only eight trucks were able to reach Malolos, said NFA-Bulacan manager Jonathan Yazon.
Elvira Obana, NFA-Central Luzon assistant regional director, said the drivers of six trucks from Regions 1 and 2 were stopped at quarantine checkpoints. She did not elaborate.
