BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — The commanding officer at the 2nd Agusan del Sur police Mobile Force Company was wounded when he was allegedly shot by one of his men on Friday night.
Col. Ringo Zarzoso, Agusan del Sur police director, identified the victim as Lt. Col. Rex Lomente.
The suspect, Patrolman John Paul Gerida, escaped.
Initial investigation showed Gerida, who was allegedly drunk shot Lomente after a heated argument at their barracks in Bunawan.
Lomente was brought to the Bunawan District Hospital, but later transferred Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
“He is still under observation... but his vital signs according to the doctors are stable,” Zarzoso said.
A manhunt for the suspect is underway.
