6,500 cops secure SEAG

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — At least 6,500 officers of the Central Luzon police were deployed on Saturday to secure the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Of the figure, 1,000 officers were deployed in Bulacan, where the opening ceremony was held, according to Brig. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, acting chief of the Central Luzon police.

The regional police was augmented by personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Bureau of Fire Protection as well as by different force multipliers and other personnel of member agencies of Task Group Central Luzon.  

While all security preparations are covered by the task group, authorities appealed for public support and cooperation by immediately reporting any suspicious activity.
