4 fishermen rescued off Cebu

The fishermen drifted for 12 hours before they were rescued by the PCG’s BRP Suluan, led by Cmdr. Dann August Cariño.

MANILA,Philippines — Four fishermen were rescued after their boat capsized in the waters off Cebu, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)said yesterday.

Eric Campo, 45; Hoven Gasalatan, 33; Jonas Padillo, 28, and Jaypee Gasalatan, 21, all of Tanke, Talisay, Cebu, told authorities that a squall destroyed their boat on Saturday night.

The fishermen drifted for 12 hours before they were rescued by the PCG’s BRP Suluan, led by Cmdr. Dann August Cariño.

The four were on their way to Bohol when they encountered the squall along the Cebu Strait at around 10 p.m.

Suluan was conducting patrol when they spotted the fishermen in the waters off Carcar.
