CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A neophyte fire marshal died while another remains confined in a hospital after they reportedly fell ill while undergoing training at the National Fire Training Institute (NFTI) in this camp.
Fire Officer 1 Clinthon Bill Obedoza of the Bureau Fire Protection (BFP)-National Capital Region died while being treated at the Chinese General Hospital.
The other BFP personnel has yet to be identified.
Initial investigation showed Obedoza died of cardiac arrest, Senior Superintendent Robert Genave, NFTI director, told The STAR.
Genave ordered the suspension of the training while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
