MANILA, Philippines — A man who had been released from jail on drug charges was gunned down at his house in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City on Sunday night.
Rommel Ramirez, 45, died at the scene from three gunshots to the face and right arm.
Investigators said Ramirez was detained at the Quezon City jail for two years.
He was released in February, but allegedly returned to drug pushing.
Probers said they have yet to determine whether Ramirez was freed on bail or if his case was dismissed.
A witness told police that she heard two men calling Ramirez, who was on the second floor of the house.
When Ramirez approached the men, the witness said he was grabbed by the neck and shot at close range.
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City police.
