MANILA, Philippines — A total of 7,153 police officers will be deployed in Metro Manila to secure students and schools during the opening of classes on June 3, an official announced yesterday.
Of the number, 2,000 policemen will man assistance desks in school premises, National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said.
Eleazar inspected yesterday schools and universities in Metro Manila to ensure their readiness for the opening of classes.
He visited the University of Santo Tomas, University of the East, Ramon Magsaysay National High School and Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School.
Eleazar ordered the explosive and ordnance disposal units to be on alert for possible bomb threats in schools.
