MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila has paid its obligations with the Government Security Insurance System (GSIS), Mayor Joseph Estrada said yesterday.
Estrada said Manila has already settled the reported P200-million unpaid GSIS premiums of city government employees.
He was reacting to reports that the city government has an outstanding liability of P204,215,076.45, representing employee contributions that were not remitted before he took office in 2013.
With the payment, Estrada said the city of Manila is totally debt-free.
