Erap offers P100,000 reward to catch feces-dumping driver

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada yesterday offered a reward of P100,000 to anyone who can identify the driver and owner of a truck caught on surveillance footage dumping human waste in front of a hotel in Malate on Feb. 4.

“The reward will come from me. I will take out a loan if necessary just so I can punch him. If he gets sentenced, I will give P200,000,” said a visibly irked Estrada during a press conference.

The closed-circuit television footage showed the truck parking along P. Ocampo street at 8:45 p.m. and discharging the waste before speeding toward Manila Bay.

The footage showed the truck’s license number, TNV-48, with the last digit hidden.

Manila Police District director Chief Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. urged the driver to turn himself in “because investigation is ongoing and we are zeroing in on businesses related to siphoning.” – Jose Rodel Clapano
