Army has 167 new Scout Rangers, snipers

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army has welcomed a new batch of soldiers with enhanced combat skills.

Brig. Gen. William Gonzales, First Scout Ranger Regiment commander, said 146 soldiers finished their Scout Ranger course while 21 completed sniper training.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto led the recognition of the soldiers, who also received their badges in ceremonies held at Camp Tecson on Wednesday.

The Army said both courses are considered among the toughest military training, which aims to develop personnel capability, cohesiveness and combat efficiency.
