Seven-year-old girl from Italy dies of jellyfish sting in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  —  A seven-year-old girl died after she was stung by a jellyfish while swimming on a beach in Barangay Haponan, Caramoan, Camarines Sur last week, police said.

Gaia Trimarchi, a resident of Rome, Italy, was with her Filipina mother Romanita Cabanlong and her friends when the incident occurred.

Police Officer 1 David Catangui said it took almost two hours before the girl was brought to the Caramoan municipal hospital, where she was declared dead.
