CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The mayor of Trece Martires, Cavite has reportedly appeared before the police to shed light on the killing of vice mayor Alex Lubigan two weeks ago.
An officer who requested anonymity told The STAR that Mayor Melandres de Sagun arrived at the Cavite police office in Imus on Wednesday night and talked with Senior Superintendent William Segun, provincial police director.
“The talk was part of the investigation into the killing of Lubigan. No journalists were present during the meeting,” the official said.
De Sagun, who just arrived from abroad, secretly went to Segun’s office. No details regarding the meeting were released, the source said.
Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, director of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) police, earlier said that aside from De Sagun, they would invite other local officials to possibly shed light on the murder of Lubigan.
No suspect has been identified yet even as probers have invited and talked to several individuals in a bid to resolve the case.
Police have identified the owner of the vehicle used by the assailants in the murder.
The vehicle was found abandoned along the Mabacao-Pantihan Bridge in Barangay Tulay B, Maragondon several days after the killing.
Police refused to release the name of the vehicle owner pending results of the investigation.
Lubigan was in his Toyota Hilux driven by his security escort Romulo Guilemer when he was killed in Barangay Luciano on July 7.
