MANILA, Philippines — The former driver and lover of detained Sen. Leila de Lima is set to testify in the disobedience case filed against her by House leaders before a Quezon City court.
State prosecutors have asked Judge Ludmilla de Pio Lim of the Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 34 to subpoena Ronnie Dayan to serve as a witness.
Dayan, who is being held at the Muntinlupa City jail, is also on trial for drug charges.
He is expected to affirm his sworn affidavit submitted to the House committee on justice, which stated that he was advised by De Lima not to attend the panel’s hearings on the alleged proliferation of drugs in the New Bilibid Prison when she was justice secretary.
Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Rep. Reynaldo Umali, who chairs the committee on justice, filed the disobedience case against De Lima.
