MANILA, Philippines — A housewife was arrested for allegedly cursing at and slapping a policeman in Marikina City Wednesday.
Rosalie Pedracio, 20, will be charged with direct assault and resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority, said Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Biay, director of the Eastern Police District.
“We will not allow anybody to shout invectives at and slap our policemen who are only doing their duty. The filing of charges against Pedracio should serve as a warning to everybody,” he said.
Initial investigation showed that Police Officers 1 Nicanor Cariño and Marco Angelo Macapagal responded to a call for help to separate two cousins who were fighting in Barangay Nangka at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
When the lawmen tried to pacify the cousins, Pedracio allegedly cursed at the policemen and slapped Cariño, causing his lips to swell.
The policemen arrested Pedracio, who is being held in the Marikina police station’s detention facility.
