5 dead in La Union, Camarines Sur mishaps

MANILA, Philippines — Five persons died while three others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in La Union and Camarines Sur over the weekend.

Two of the fatalities – Jaypee Cabauatan, 32, and Christian Lilan, 20 – were declared dead on arrival at the Bacnotan District Hospital due to head and body fractures.

The victims were on a motorcycle when they hit a narra tree in Barangay Galongen, Bacnotan town on Saturday night.

Investigation showed Cabauatan lost control of the wheel.

Meanwhile, in Camarines Sur, Aida Ilan-Pantalla, 57; Agnes Aguilar, 45, and four-year-old Aripa Aguilar died at the scene after their tricycle collided with a van in Sipocot town on Friday.

Tricycle driver Reynaldo Vicedo was taken to a hospital for treatment along with van driver Erwin Yanto, 38, and his companion Renato Janohan, who were also injured in the accident, according to Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, spokesperson for the Bicol police.

Reports said the tricycle was traveling in Barangay Balo at around 4:30 p.m. when it was hit by the van owned by the Elavil Tours Philippines Inc.– Celso Amo
