MANILA, Philippines — Two persons died and six others were injured when a tower crane collapsed in Pasay City yesterday.
Crane operator Jonathan Diserdo, 32, died while being taken to the San Juan De Dios Hospital. Ronnie Rey delos Reyes died at the scene.
Superintendent Jenny Tecson, spokesperson for the Southern Police District, said the incident happened at the corner of EDSA and P. Celle street.
Probers said the crane fell from the ninth floor of the STI Building undergoing construction.
Chinese Liu Shen Xiu, workers Francisco Angcatan, Melvin Yosores and Elmer Sedol and security guards Kumbo Mabinay and Jay Ballon were injured after being hit by the crane.
In a statement sent to The STAR, the STI said it would coordinate with the contractors, Monocrete Construction Philippines Inc. and Constech Management Group Inc., to offer assistance to the victims.
