TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — Five persons died in road accidents in Nueva Vizcaya and Cagayan on Wednesday.
The motorcycle driven by Weignright Tanoma, 25, exploded after it collided with a tricycle in Barangay Bonfal West, Bayombong.
The tricycle driver, Ferma Flores, 20, and his passengers Almeric and Menchie, both surnamed Esteban, suffered burns and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Benito Judiemar, 27, and William Sanchez, 29, crashed their motorcycles in Barangay Indiana, Bambang and Papaya, Kasibu, respectively, also in Nueva Vizcaya.
In Cagayan, Rachelle Araja, 52, and Guillermo Fermin, 60, were in a sport utilty vehicle that crashed when the driver overtook another vehicle in Barangay Magapit, Lal-lo.
In Pampanga, 13 persons were hospitalized when a dump truck mowed down a procession of the Black Nazarene in Mabalacat on Wednesday night.
Senior Inspector Jeffrey Jalandoni, city police chief, said the driver of the Isuzu Elf lost control of the wheel and collided with a Mitsubishi Montero. The truck also hit three other vehicles.
