FEO fasttracks license processing

MANILA, Philippines -  Gun holders will no longer wait for months or years as the Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) has shortened the processing time for license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) and the renewal of firearm licenses to a few hours.

FEO director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag said in February alone, the FEO processed, approved and released a total of 4,981 LTOPFs and firearm licenses or an average of 178 daily.

Binag said the FEO has been innovating programs to ensure the smooth flow of applications for LTOPF and firearm registrations.

“Application with complete requirements submitted before 11 a.m. will be processed and released before 5 p.m. the same day,” Binag said.

“Those submitted after 11 a.m. will be processed and released the next working day,” the FEO chief added.
